You make a good case. I think that if for no other reason than
national security, we need to maintain the domestic steel industry.
But I can't help but wonder if there aren't any more imaginative
solutions than a tariff. It flies in the face of current national
policy on free trade.
Since it is in the national interest, perhaps the government could
somehow assume the legacy costs?
