Gautam: As a bit of a leftie myself, I'm a longtime Walzer fan. Thanks for pointing out these two articles. They were excellent.
I think what has happened to much of the (intelligent) American Left is that it has drifted towards the center because of the kinds of excesses Walzer details. I'm certainly more moderate than I used to be, but I don't think it's me - I think I'm pretty much as liberal as I was, but the left has just become unmoored (from reasonableness if not from reason entirely) and floated WAY away from me.
