Duh, so they _are_ the same species, because the third part of the
name is subspecies [like Homo sapiens sapiens and Homo
sapiens neanderthalensis -- if the Neanderthal are another species, their
name should be changed to Homo neanderthalensis]. Also, interbreeding
_and_ producing fertile offspring is the criterium for same-speciesness.
