I recently say, on Yahoo, the Dutch review of the massacre in Srebrenica. I was absolutely blown away by how the forces there failed those they promised to protect.
http://www.rnw.nl/hotspots/html/srebrenica020405.html There are a few other things that are interesting about this. One is how quickly this report faded from view. I can imagine how the entire world press would be all over the report if it were the US that failed to protect thousands that came to them for protection. I also thought of the spectrum of responsibility. Actually massacring those thousands, as the Serbs did, is one level. When one is control, failing to protect people from their know enemy when it was easily within one's power, as Sharon did, is another level. Failing to take one's responsibility as seriously as one should, as the Dutch did, is still another level. But, the deaths are still their responsibility. For whatever reason, they didn't have the will to do what they promised to do. And, as a result, thousands died. And, also as a result of this and other instances, the US was called in to handle the situation. Dan M.
