Indeed, what kind of democracy is it that shuts down all independent media
outlets and opens fire on unarmed demonstrators?    Why do you insist on
apologizing for such tyranny by giving it the euphemasim of "democracy."

Furthermore, as mentioned several times, the Bush Administration
immediately insisted strongly to the coup plotters that they do not dismiss
the Assembly.

The short of this story is that democracy was no longer existant in
Venezuela, and democracy could only be restored through an election.  Since
Chavez certainly wasn't about the call an election that could remove
himself from power, why not take a chance that somebody else would?

P.S. I found it kind of ironic that you referred to the NY Times as a
"pinko news outlet" with the intention of *not* being serious. :)
