I know that I spend most of my time on Brin-L lurking about, so perhaps
I'm speaking out-of-place here, but the list climate has become
entirely ridiculous.
Jeroen: It should be obvious by now that nobody else on the list is
going to be able to grok what you're saying, so why not let
it drop?
Everyone else: It should be obvious by now that Jeroen is not going
to be able to grok what you're saying, so why not let
it drop?
I mean, really. Every time I think the list is finally through
all of the tedious bickering and nastiness, it just keeps coming
back. Now, obviously that's just my problem. If I don't like
the list, I can just leave; it's not like I've done much to
contribute to the community up to this point, but there's so
much GOOD stuff that *does* happen here that I'd really rather
not.
Instead I'll just do something I hoped I wouldn't have to do -
set up filters to just automatically delete entire threads.
This is pretty sad in a way, especially taking into account the
usual Brin-L thread drift; doubtless I'll end up missing out on
some really good posts.
But why do I feel compelled to bring it up? It's really not my
"place" to do so . . . Probably because I remember the list in
its heyday and I'd really love to see it return to that, and
the only reason I'm sticking around is that I *know* that really
wonderful things can happen on this list. I highly doubt that
many "new" members would stick around without having been around
for the good stuff, and that's a shame.
So I'll get off my soapbox now. IAAMOAC.
