<< I think the Israeli's are afraid that individuals will be accused of war 
crimes. They do not want to see their soldiers on trial at the Hague. They 
believe that they will not get a fair evaluation and therefore are willing to 
take the hit as a country rather than have individuals be branded as war 
ciminals. This explains their actions but it does not excuse them. If 
officers were guilty of war crimes they should be exposed and tried for these 
crimes.   >>


Do you think they could possibly get a fair trial? Considering how the 
European press brayed about the "hundreds" of "massacre" victims, when it 
turns out the death toll was in the 50s, and at least half of them were 
terrorists, I can't blame Israel for figuring that any trial will turn out to 
be, basically, a lynching.

That said, however, the IDF should conduct its own investigation and 
prosecute any officers who violated the laws of war.
