I actually have brin-l.mccmedia.com running (finally), although there's no
content there. I'm getting MySQL permissions set for Jeroen to try it
out... and I'll be installing Zope, for those who are familiar with such
things.
If I host the list, I'd like to hear from everyone about what their favorite
list server software is -- majordomo, whatever Cornell is running, Ecartis
(formerly Listar), or whatever that doesn't cost real money, such as
Listserv.
All of this is running on its own machine, which for the moment is a Toshiba
325CDS laptop. It should be adequate for a while, particularly for the
list. The Web server might become pokey if the database gets hit hard, so
if we get serious about it, I'll have to stage it on another machine (such
as this old PowerMac 7500-100 that has nothing to do... ;-).
I mentioned that we're moving, which could disrupt things in the next week
or two... but it won't be more than a 20-30 minute downtime. The guy who
owns our current home is a good friend and assured me that the servers can
stay here until DSL is working at our new place.
