> My sister is still having trouble with computer. They had a problem two
weeks ago and replaced the power strip, thinking that was a source. It was
actually because of too many of those hidden programs were running, or at
least that fixed it. But it failed again last night, and the resources were
at 85%. Her office computer guy said it may be >the wall outlet.

Turn off the breaker that supplies power to that plug. Remove the plug and
tighten the screws. If the blades of the plug dont fit snugly, buy a new
plug.

but I'd bet we have better power than other computer using countries like
China or India. So are their computers failing all the time because of poor
power?

Actually our is pretty damn good from what I've heard.

have to know what to get) Shouldn't they be able to handle the ac-dc
conversion and supply good power to the circuit? If I go to camp and am
using a generator for power, shouldn't my computer work without any trouble?

If it is a nagging problem, buy one of those home UPS (uninteruptable power
source) units. This will ensure a smooth supply of power.

If you have a friend who is an electrician, have him look at the plug with a
meter to see if there are voltage fluctuations. If there are, check voltage
at the breaker panel to see if it is coming from the power utility.
