Well I thought the premise of the original Buffy movie sounded great, but
that turned out to be a bit disappointing.  And a lot of people (not me of
course :) ) took a while to catch on to how good Buffy the TV series was
because they were put off by the concept.  Whedon is surprisingly forward
about blaming the failure of projects he has been involved in on meddling
incompetents. He had some nasty things to say about Donald Sutherland in the
original Buffy movie for example.

But given how successful he has been when he has full control, he might be
justified. Which is another reason it will be interesting to see how good
'Firefly' turns out to be.

Here in the UK Buffy and Angel are shown from 8pm-10pm on Thursday, with the
last eps at the end of this month. I thought Angel was better over all this
season, but Buffy seems to be building to a strong ending after being in the
doldrums for a stretch.
