If it all falls to pieces, tomorrow, will you still be mine? -- Eagles 65 million years ago, Saurus sapiens walks the earth with webbed feet, like the creature from the Black Laguna de Bay.
They have everything the Egyptians have 6000 years ago, except hips. That is, astronomy and science and monotheism, plus farming and geneticists. The details are way far to confirm. They see an asteroid hit the Earth and destroy a great percentage of their own ancestors on land. They worship their ancestors, and fear the unknown. They plan ahead, and breed potentials by slow farming over several thousands or hundreds of thousands or a million years. Then, they kill themselves, or fight wars, by polluting the planet with excess carbon dioxide. A form of paper shredding, and the survivors shred all the remaining paper, much like the policy on fictional Jijo, having the asteroid event as THE holy event. God(s) must be angry yada blah. Thus the vole, the bird, the lobster, and lizards, and coelecanth, sharks, fishes, and a cecilian type wormy; the good, the farmed, and the ugly. They are *certain* they will live again, no matter what happens, and they are correct, but they didn't advance to advanced math or the Big Bang. And they do live in us and in their "creations" in microcosmic form, even the very proteins might still exist after 64 million years. Hot blooded, check in and see. That's as much detail as I can surmise, given what I know and a rough timeline.
