Are you interested in Major League Baseball?

I noticed awhile back that you admitted to having not read any Stephen
Jay Gould. You might like _Wonderful Life_; he analyzes some stuff,
including some baseball stats over history.

He's also written a few essays here and there about baseball, but I
don't have those books unpacked yet, so I couldn't point you to anything
specific. Someone else might be able to, though.

If you're not really interested in baseball, you might still enjoy some
of Gould's essays. Just pick up one of his collections of essays, read
the first page of the first one, and if it looks good, finish it,
otherwise skip to the second, etc. I'm sure you'll find at least one
worth reading. :)

(On the book unpacking -- I've gotten most of the fiction through L
unpacked, with a few books AWOL or not worth digging out of the
particular box they're in until get to that box in progression, so I've
just left a space on the shelf; I got through McCarthy on the M's, and
was trying to figure out which box that last Sharyn McCrumb book was in,
when I realized that Sam needed dinner, and I never got back to the
library after that. Maybe before I go to bed I'll be able to finish out
the M's....)
