Because you have been a a medium-level asshole more or less continuously for many years and everybody knows that even if the current tiff is ended amicably it won't be long before you find another reason to act like an asshole. Everybody who feels this way enjoys watching you get shafted, and apparently the number of people who a) feel that way or b) don't care much at all is so high that nobody is rising to your defense. Yes, some disagree with Erik's tactics and have said so. Nobody seems to mind the fact that you are his target, however, or at least not sufficiently to make a fuss. You should take this fact as hard evidence of the reputation you've earned yourself. Erik, by contrast, is an asshole only for brief periods for deliberate and fairly easy-to-understand reasons, and I expect that, with perhaps a few exceptions, few people fear that he will be the center of an endless series of shitstorms to come.
