Its not about feeling uncomfortable. For me it is time. I just have a hard time keeping up to date with list mail. And if their is something I would like to comment on it is usually old by the time I get to it. Bob Z. is the only one who gets away with that ;). I used to be part of the furniture around here (well, at least a small end table). Priorities change. People lurk for their own reasons. I don't know if your idea of an off list lurker channel is a good one. It seems to generate a lot of suspicion.
