Just be honest, but not too blunt.

Reminds me of a story - right before I started high school, my parents
moved from Atlanta, GA to a small rural community near Warm Springs.
We bought a farm, and had a couple of horses. One afternoon, as my
father, older brother and younger brother (age 5) were out digging
postholes for a new fence, my younger brother looked over at the
corral and asked, "Poppa? What's that?" We looked over and saw him
pointing at one of the horses, who was lettin' it ALL hang out, if you
know what I mean. My father answered, "That's his d*ck, son." and
went back to work. My brother nodded, then trooped inside to tell Mom
the new word he'd learned.

As they say in TV guide, trouble ensued.
