Around here there are a few people that have a span of Friesian horses.
In summer when you go out into the surrounding country site you can run
in them quite unexpectantly. I'm always astounded at how great they look
in front of a freshly polished coach. Then again when I see them as
riding horses they don't look quite as grand but still pretty
impressive.
Another horse around here is the Belgian coldblood. Amazingly it is
still rather widespread. Some of the farmers use them to do haycar rides
and short trecks to local attractions in summer. Some even use them on
the farm to work the land. When Tom is a little older I'm going to take
him onto a treck. I hope that he'll love it.
Personally I'm into big horses. The bigger the better. Getting onto them
is hell but most of them have such gentle personallities.

Did some riding on our holiday in Spain last summer. Felt like hell for
a while afterwards but rediscovered why I loved horse riding so much.
Unfortunatly it is way to expensive to continue anytime soon. Major
bummer. Ah well there is always next summer.....
