I had another unspectacular 8-6 week last week, although the Redskins came
through with the Upset Special to go 2-3 on the year. ATS I went 5-8-1
for a 37-35-2 record on the year. This week, though, I go all out for the
underdogs.....

Atlanta at New York (OFF) - Well, I thought the Falcons were inexorably
Super Bowl bound, and then the Bucs came to town and Vick went down with a
big time injury. So much for that theory. Pick: G-Men

New Orleans at Washington (+1) - The Saints have struggled against the pass
all year, and you'd expect a guy like Spurrier to exploit that. Pick:
Redskins

Baltimore (+6.5) at Indianapolis - Just like that, the salary-cap decimated
Ravens are all alone in first place in their division. And with Jamal
Lewis looking like the Jamal Lewis of old - who cares who's on the rest of
their team? Pick: Ravens UPSET SPECIAL

Pittsburgh at Cincinnati (+6) - The Steelers are reeling after falling
short in New Orleans the week after their bye. Now, they go on the round
against a team that always has their number, and is suddenly playing with
confidence. Pick: Bengals - another upset special in its own right....

Buffalo at Houston (+7) - At one point, I would have feared this game, but
after losing to Oakland last week, the Bills should be ready to light
somebody up. Pick: Bills and to cover

Cleveland (+6) at Tampa Bay - The Browns seem like they are totally melting
down. Pick: Buccaneers but take the points

Carolina at Dallas (+2) - Both teams lost last week, but I still think that
the Panthers are a decent club, whereas I still see the Cowboys as a sorry,
talent-devoir, outfit that lost to an expansion team. Pick: Panthers and
to cover

Kansas City (+3) at San Diego - Has anyone else caught on to the fact that
the NFL stacks its schedule in September, such that all the bad teams play
each other and all the good teams play each other, so that every year some
"Super Bowl contender" suffers a meltdown, and some bad team puts together
a gaudy September record? I think that the Chargers may have done it
again this year, and facing Priest Holmes is not the time to be missing
Junior Seau. Pick: Chiefs

Detroit (+5) at Minnesota - A lot of people are thinking that Detroit might
win this game, but Randy Moss has decided that he wants to play this week,
and he's a game-changer. Pick: Vikings but take the points

Oakland at St. Louis (+7) - I heard the end of the Rams' last game on the
radio. It was one of the few times in NFL history that both teams were
running out the clock at the end of the game. Scarily enough, but the Rams
just laid down and gave up. Can anybody imagine the old Rams doing
that? Even missing Charlie Garner, the Raiders should have enough to get
by this team that is still searching for answers. Pick: Raiders, but take
the points

Green Bay (+5.5) at New England - The Patriots are still the Super Bowl
Champs, they should get Troy Brown this week, and the Packers are coming
off a Monday Nighter. Pick: Patriots and to cover

Miami (+3.5) at Denver - The Fish have already laid one egg on the road
against the AFC West, and Mile High is a very tough place to play. Pick:
Broncos and to cover

Jacksonville at Tennessee (+2) - I'm not sure that anyone realizes just
what a truly bad team the Titans are right now with all of their injuries.
Nor how good the Jaguars really are. Pick: Jaguars and to cover

San Francisco at Seattle (+3) - The Seahawks haven't stopped anybody on the
ground yet this year, and now they get to meet Garrison Hearst and Kevan
Barlow. Yikes. Pick: 49'ers and to cover
