1) He's up to his eyeballs in stuff at the moment, between work and
class and social life. He's putting more energies into listmail than to
private e-mails. If he wants to give a more detailed explanation, he
may very well do so for the whole list when he has more time, or that
may just remain a mystery.

2) Since you're so concerned about everyone being able to access stuff,
when people post links to information that isn't accessible to all, if
it's owned by the listmember who posted the link, why don't you ask
permission to mirror the info on your site, and if you get it, do so and
post the mirror link? That would win more points than criticism of
where someone chooses to upload the stuff they'd like to share.

It may be that he wants to limit the circulation of the document in
question. If he can confirm that, I'll make an offer to send the stuff
off-list to any interested party that can't access it themselves. But
I'm not going to do that without permission, given that its access is
currently restricted.

        Julia

p.s. if anyone else uploads to non-public areas of Yahoo! but is quite
willing to share with listmembers, just not everyone at large, if they
would indicate so at the time they post the link, I can probably e-mail
relevant stuff to folks who can't get to it.
