1) Posts have been archived on Yahoo for awhile. There were 2 services
archiving brin-l posts, and Yahoo absorbed them both. Yahoo is where
people are expecting to find the public archives.
2) Some folks are subbed through Yahoo because they want the sort of
digest they get from Yahoo. The current digest setup, while not
identical to the Yahoo digest setup, is better for those who wanted the
Yahoo digest rather than the only-once-a-day Cornell digest. (Yahoo
sends out a digest after 25 messages. Cornell sent it out once a day.
mccmedia sends it out when a threshold size has been reached, which
leads to more than 25 messages, but generally fewer than 50. Maybe
always fewer than 50.)
3) You can always set up a new Yahoo account and get your addresses
associated with it, and get to having full Yahoo access that way. I
ended up having to do that when e-groups was absorbed by Yahoo. If you
want help with doing that, let me know, and I'll be happy to help you
out.
That only addresses Yahoo issues. Yahoo is not an *ideal* solution to
anything, IMO, but right now, it has inertia on its side. :P
