This may well be the case if we're measuring using a "knowledge of major" scale, simply because American undergraduates have a much broader education than British ones. On the other hand, I get the impression that students work much harder in America than in Britain (this may be a selection effect based on my sampling, however), and American universities are certainly much better funded. > Or do they all pale compared to old schools like Oxford?
