That's not fair. The Batman animated series took its cue from the first two films (I deny the existence of the latter two films). Admittedly, this is down to the visuals, and credit to the writers of the cartoon for making it as good as it was, but it does something different to the films. Both the films and the animated are excellent in different ways, and really that is the way it should be. Using one medium to make an exact copy of another is a pointless exercise, and is one reason why the films of Harry Potter are good, but not great.
