County to auction court's Ten Commandments

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (AP) --
County commissioners who lost a court fight over displaying the Ten Commandments on courthouse walls voted to pay their attorneys by selling the plaques to the highest bidder.

The article didn't say, but did the taxpayers pay for those plaques originally? If those plaques were paid for by taxpayer dollars, then the taxpayers *are* footing the bill.
