I've heard stories of various state legislatures passing legislation to make
it equal to 3.  The Indiana one was supposedly to make math homework easier
for the governor's son, as I recall.

The only thing I could find listed as "false" on snopes.com regarding
legislation to make pi = 3 was a story circulating on the 'net that Alabama
was going to change the value of pi to bring it in line with the Bible. 
(The verse cited was I Kings 7:23.  I'm not going to verify that that's
where it is right now, though.)
