Can I add some experience, which has nothing to do with dating but the process? I'm logged onto two internet sites. The one site is popular, but some of the things I want to limit, don't limit my search options. I have a number one criteria, which it does limit by, yet I've been contacted by women whose answers didn't meet this limit, or worse lied and then admitted to me the truth after a few e-mails. I will say for my number two criteria, I listed what I am, but didn't limit my search to it because I don't care about that quality in them as long as they can accept my point of view.

Let's say this site has a four step process. You can do a general search to gather likely candidates, then look closer at an individual, then contact them, and they contact you. I'd like site statistics to be available to show if anyone looked at me individually, but didn't send a message. I mean, if no one is looking at me then why bother? If I'm getting a lot of looks, but no messages, then I need to change my info. (I want to say that I'm honest, maybe a little too honest. After reading the stuff on Salon maybe I should lie to at least get the contact started.)(There was a women who practically described herself as a goddess. Not earth goddess but model type beauty goddess. And she only wanted a man who would match her in looks and intelligence. Now this may be my own insecurities talking, but if you are 24 and look that good, you shouldn't need the internet to find a date.)

The few women that I have contacted first, I never got a reply from. Which is fine, but I made sure to reply to any messages I got, even to nicely say 'I'm flattered by the attention, but I'm not interested for this reason....'

Lastly for the popular site, it's funny the things that get messed up. For some reason I was matched with a women in Pakistan and another in California.


For the non-popular site, it was specifically limited to a certain type of person. And none of them live near me, the closest being 200 miles away. Which I know isn't huge, but a little depressing. I think this dating service needs to get it's message out there. It was only by dumb luck that I found them.


Summary: so far the farthest I got was five e-mails. But I have not contacted many myself. It has been football season.
