If I were in the midst of a family emergency I might
say no, I can't come in.  But other than that?  No,
not really.  That's part of the job.  If you want to
work here, then you have to be willing to do that. 
When I was at home over Winter Break, I told the
office that I could take the shuttle up and be at work
within four hours of being called, and that was pretty
much expected of me.  If he were just a journalist,
then fine.  But he's the most public face of CNN, at a
moment when CNN's viewership is likely to be at a
peak.  What are they paying him for, if not for
moments like that?
