Much has been made of Bush's supposed opposition to raising the fuel
economy standards of SUV's..... as it turns out, however:
Increases in required SUV ("light truck") fuel economy proposed by the Bush
administration: 1.5 m.p.g. (from 20.7 to 22.2 m.p.g.)
Increases in required SUV fuel economy imposed by the Clinton
administration in its entire first term: 0.3 m.p.g. (from 20.4 to 20.7 m.p.g.)
Increases in required SUV fuel economy imposed by the Clinton
administration in its entire second term: zero m.p.g.
