His colleagues would have been a bit more prompt had there not been sickness
and sleeplessness involved.
In other words, I asked Nick 12 days ago (on a Sunday) if he was expecting
any emergencies that week, because I was up to my own ears in stuff and I
didn't see it getting much better. He assured me that it was unlikely that
anything would come up. See what good came of *that*! :)
