... I do not doubt it. But, I think Ronn's suggestion is explicitly giving Jeroen permission to display all the other messages that he considers threats...in the context of his own offline messages, of course. I understand why there is a prejudice against this, but I think, once some private email on the subject comes out, all might as well. (In for a penny, in for a pound.) I'm not nearly as concerned about others with regard to this off-list, on-list message stuff. I would hope that there's nothing I say privately that would reflect badly on me if made public. My motivation in writing to Jeroen privately a month ago, when all this took place, was to save him the embarrassment of a public warning of what the last straw would be. I guess you and I are wise enough to know that advice rarely has any effect; only consequences. So I hope I'm doing everybody right by setting some up. I don't see any sign that Jeroen is hearing what people are saying about his behavior, except that on-list, he hasn't made any outrageous threats or personal attacks since I drew the line. I really, really home he doesn't. I'd hate to kick him or anyone else off. By the way, in case you didn't know (and I'm not sure who does), "addiction to self-righteousness" is a David Brin notion, which he tried to communicate to JVB during the last explosion. Knowing far more than I wish I did about addiction, I think he's right on target, though I'm not sure how useful the idea is.
