I took mechanical drawing in high school too.  At the time, I thought I
wanted to be a draftsman/engineer and wanted to know how to do those things
as well.  I don't recall any issues with getting into the class.  In my
case, I discovered that a) I could draw OK, b) I couldn't letter for
anything and c) that really wasn't something I wanted to do all day.

So I'm *really* glad I took it when I did...
