> "There are allready a million monkeys with a million typewriters and > Slashdot looks nothing like Shakespere"
This reminds me of the million monkey producing Shakespeare argument about how random events cannot produce something complex. Instead of that, it was how many monkeys it took to randomly produce a 100 character scripture quote. The answer, with caps and no punctuation, is 1 in 52^100. But, if one allows segments that match the pattern to be saved and then combined, the time goes down by many many orders of magnitude. I actually wrote a Monte Carlo program to prove this to a creationist friend of mine. Dan M. _______________________________________________ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l
