---------------------- Another book to look forward to. I don't enjoy everything about John Varley, but some is okay. Steel Beach was entertaining. However, I DO enjoy Mars Expeditions and Robert's short synopsis has piqued my curiosity. Other good going-to-Mars books are: Red, Green, and Blue Mars Kim Stanley Robinson Mars Ben Bova Return to Mars Ben Bova Moving Mars Greg Bear First Landing Robert Zubrin (have his "The Case for Mars" is on top of my non-SF "to read" stack) Mars Crossing Geoffrey Landis The Martian Race Gregory Benford Voyage Steven Baxter (though it takes place Earth) Mars Probes Peter Crowther (anthology) List provided in case you have nothing else to do.
