Another book to look forward to. I don't enjoy everything about John
Varley, but some is okay. Steel Beach was entertaining.

However, I DO enjoy Mars Expeditions and Robert's short synopsis has piqued
my curiosity. Other good going-to-Mars books are:

Red, Green, and Blue Mars Kim Stanley Robinson

George, did you read the final book in the series? "The Martians" I'm always curious about what people's opinions of that one are. Most of my friends either loved or hated it.

Mars Ben Bova
Return to Mars Ben Bova
Moving Mars Greg Bear
First Landing Robert Zubrin (have his
"The Case for Mars" is on top of my non-SF "to read" stack)
Mars Crossing Geoffrey Landis
The Martian Race Gregory Benford
Voyage Steven Baxter (though it
takes place Earth)
Mars Probes Peter Crowther (anthology)

*gasp*!

No "Martian Chronicles"??!?

*grin*

Classic Bradbury.

Jon
