To me, this is a very cynical comment on those fresh young turks sitting on the musician chairs in front of him. But hey, that's life. Academics are sometimes secondary to real-world experience.
But does an "honorary" degree mean anything? I got mine the hard way, and I would hope all those hours studying and selling text books for beer money mean something!
