Even 500 milligrams per day seems like a lot. Isn't the RDA about 60 milligrams? The daily multivitamin I take has something like 120 milligrams. An orange has about 70 milligrams, and I've always heard that is an excellent source of C.


By way of comparison, like humans, guinea pigs don't manufacture their own vitamin C and they typically need 10 to 15 milligrams per day (typical weight of an adult male is 1 to 1.5 kg).
