The Coalition Provisional Authority, Bremer and Co. [There was a time
when the banner on their homepage read the coalition provincial
authority..*g*]

*snicker* :-) Thanks for clarifying!

I don't have a cite. This came up in midst of a conversation with some
Indian diplomats. They were talking about the problems related to
re-opening the Indian Embassy in Iraq.

Ah! Was wondering, thanks.

I am not sure about that one but the MEA was basically told, 'sorry,
things are too tense on ground and we are not offering any diplomatic
immunity atm'.

I suppose I'm going to start sounding like a sterotypical uneducated American soon: what's the MEA? :-) Google came up with Middle East Airlines.

If the CIA wasn't guaranteeing diplomatic immunity to foreign nationals, then I think that might be a violation of the Geneva convention. I could be wrong though. For any country not to guarantee the safety of its diplomats in a war zone is probably normal.

See, the fact is that no country in the world would go an attack the US
if the CPA storms their embassy in Baghdad. It would be easier to just
accept the apology and pretend to believe the excuse. :)

Too true. We are the ultimate 800lb gorilla, which has its positives & negatives.
