I have a different question. I've read a few opinions stating that the advanced countries are holding back third world countries by forcing them to adopt certain ideas, especially environmental policies. These countries cannot develop the way we did. I can see the wisdom in helping them avoid our mistakes but we cannot build nuclear power plants in places that do not have the infrastructure to support it. I'm just wondering if there are certain obvious, safe, steps that these countries can follow to move towards self-sufficiency?

There are all sorts of silly things under the banner of 'antiglobalization'. There is one simple fact always to remember. There is exactly one criterion that predicts accurately whether a nation and people have done well in the last 60 years. How closely has their economy been tied to that of the United States?

The absolute perfection of this correlation should be an utter embarrassment to the simpleminded posturers out there.

Now, having said that, has America committed crimes? Duh! In protecting our farmers, for example, our price supports have wounded 3rd world farmers exactly BECAUSE we refused to let then tie their economy to ours!

Ah, we can hope....
