Other than Guantanamo (about which I could rant at length), I haven't seen much of this from the average American-on-the-street in the past 2 years. Stories about American anti-islamic violence disappeared several months post 9/11. To what recent news are you referring? (or was this an old quote?)

Agreed. Many (not all) anti-religion advocates are so aggressive at condemning religious intolerance but happily approve of (and even encourage) intolerance against the religious. Sadly, there are plenty of them to go around on both sides of the fence, like that idiot Fred Phelps.
