Not on horseback (although I've _heard_ of cats riding, and have seen cats be friendly with horses). When I used to do a lot of travelling, the cats rode with me in the car and learned to *Stay Away From The Pedals!* They also liked to ride in my lap, but I only let them if it was cruise-control time, not if traffic was thick or road conditions poor. No traffic to speak of when crossing Wyoming or most of Utah!
You must not have driven on I-15 during what is laughably referred to as rush hour, then . . .
