I read this a couple of weeks ago.  I don't see why the author thinks that HP can't 
lead to other books, especially if the child's parents are readers themselves.

Does he *honestly* believe that a kid who enjoyed reading the HP would turn his nose 
up at The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit, The Phantom Tollboth, or A Wrinkle in 
Time?  Makes no sense, though the way this guy carried on, I suppose none of those 
books would be good enough for him.

And a question: Anyone here actually read Thomas Pynchon?  Is it worth it to find 
Gravity's Rainbow, or is it one of those "great novels" taht are actaully kind of 
dull?  :)
