Faces for me are very easy. I remember a face forever, including everything that person told me together with when it was told to me and under what circumstances. At times I can remember niggling little details about somebody as far back as 10 years ago or so. For me it thus feels terrible to know details about a persons life and still forget their name. Now a days I try to relate faces to names of people I can remember the name more easily for in order to remember their name. It is a rather complicated way of going at remembering somebodies name and I have to put a lot of effort into it, but in most cases for me it works, at least for a little while.
I'm the same, but it catches me out all the time - the staff here have their last names as their login ID, and they come up to me and ask for a change to their account (usually resetting the password). I know what department they're from, what classes they teach, which staff room they live in, and chat about their family, home, holiday etc, but in the end I have to admit my failure and ask their name so I can call up the account. I used to ask them how they spell it, but too many "j-o-n-e-s" or "c-h-a-n" episodes later I gave up on that.
Now I try and use their name as often as possible in conversation when I first encounter them to lock it in...
Cheers Russell C.
