According to a buddy who has a Tivo, this explained clearly in the Tivo privacy policy. It has also been confirmed by independent hackers who have examined what was being sent back to Tivo. The infomation is only sent back with a zip code, nothing else. And you can opt out with a phone call. So probably not that big a deal.
