I differ with that. I want to see when someone replies to one of my posts,
so I don't miss it if I am in a hurry when I read posts. I have no problem
having my posts attributed to me.

Well, I understand, but I myself would rather be seen as responding to the post and not the post-er.


I personally think that civil discord involves more the attitude of
pointing out how one's esteemed friend happens to be mistaken on this
particular point...and going from there.

But what we have is people not pointing out disagreements but savaging each other. I agree that the act of including someone's name does not, by itself, indicate or foster any sense of rancorousness, but it's a part of a very unhealthy and very disagreeable tone of discourse I've seen creeping into this list the past year or so.
