Actually, I think it was deliberately used instead of rape.  If a man is
forced to masturbate in front of a camera, with a woman pointing and
grinning, I don't think that's rape, but it is forced sex.  If sex acts
between two prisoners are forced, I'm not sure if it is rape, but it
clearly is forced sex.

I'd argue that rape is a sub-set of forced sex. (including the use of date
rape drugs in  the definition of force, of course.)
