I don't know how literal this is meant to be. I thought at the time that it was an intriguing idea, and I still do, but only in a loose metaphorical sense.
Since The Author began flogging this idea, I've been wondering if he's writing a "Civil War II" novel...
Or maybe an alternate uni novel? The rift between Mason and Dixon has never really healed -- it's representative almost of a difference in ideologies, in attitudes, in mindset in general. Kind of makes me think how Canada's got its social rift as well. (For different reasons if my understanding is correct.)
