Hmmm. Dave and I sit around here all day writing code that runs on both... and Solaris.
In fact, I'll let Dave tell you which OS causes the most headaches in terms of installing open source stuff.
But the fact stands that it was open source code running on Macintosh that accomplished what could not otherwise be done.

(Yeah, I'm a shameless partisan here. I've got time to be -- since I have no viruses to worry about, I don't have to lose four hours a week rebooting, virus-checking, downloading updated definitions, etc., which leaves me enough free time to gloat about it all...)
