Let's see, you said

People engage in impersonal commerce all the time
We should be careful about making conclusions about correlations
Women can make choices
My data are not relevant.
Perhaps a good way to get rid of the problems of prostitution is to remove
the religious prohibition against it.

I gave data that I saw as relevant. For example, if the problem is
religious presuppositions, then one would tend to find prostitutes coming
from atheistic or agnostic families in vastly disproportional numbers. One
would tend to find strong correlations between churchgoing countries and
the problems prostitutes have there.

Looking again at strippers. Especially in the '80s, Houston was a wide
open town in many ways. Strip clubs were socially acceptable enough so
that I knew of managers meetings that put strip clubs on the expense
account as a "male bonding experience." The stigma for strip clubs was not
that high...guys openly talked about it.

I just talked to my daughter, and she told me my viewpoint on prostitution
was in the mainstream of feminism. She also has a friend who has a recent
degree in sociology and should have a number of references on this subject
that I can forward. So, more documentation should be forthcoming.
