I assume you're doing something like: I-5 (north) -> I-405 (north), exiting near LAX. or: I-5 (north) -> I-105 (west), exiting near LAX. In light traffic, I would plan 2 hours, which would include some padding for accidents, getting temporarily lost, pit stops, etc. Traffic patterns are generally favorable to you, as most commuters in the late afternoon & evening are trying to get south and east, with traffic slowing in all directions near the airports. Of the two, the 405(n) has consistently better traffic than the 5(n) on the stretch between the 405 and 105. If you have 2+ people, you can probably get by with this time estimate, as there are carpool lanes on the 5 fwy, the 105 fwy, and the 405 fwy for most of your trip. If you can't count on carpools, add another 1 - 1.5 hours to your estimate. If your flight is late enough, you might consider having dinner before you leave, as traffic improves greatly after 7pm - 8pm. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. -- Matt PS: if you have free time (doesn't sound like it), I'd be more than happy to try meeting for a brin-l lunch or something while you're in SoCal. _______________________________________________ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l
