On this page there's a link to a video of a chimpanzee (male) drinking its own ... um, effluent. I'm not sure what the page's author is trying to prove here. That urine drinkers are like chimpanzees?
Here's some text that accompanies the video link:
"Urine therapy is not just for humans...
Click on the chimp picture to view this brief movie of a chimp doing UT. It is amazing - animals are so smart!"
The link points to a file called "monkey_ut", which indicates to me at least that whoever put it online is not very bright, or at least not as "smart" as some animals, since chimpanzees are *not* monkeys; they are apes, like we are.
(And since when is a chimp drinking pee an example of *therapy*? Oh well -- this is a site that also promotes the idea that HIV doesn't actually exist.)
They (chimps) also engage in warfare and commit rape and murder ... so perhaps we can justify those activities as well by this argument. This is a classic example of overdoing it when trying to find rationales for human behavior in the animal kingdom.
