That's not what I or Zimmy are saying. He said, explicitly, that you were
making excuses for someone who did make an anti-Semitic statement. That
her statement was clearly anti-Semitic

I am making the argument that all political movements can find racists and
anti-Semites in them, and that one has to be careful about what claims one
repeats.

Warren's position is easy to understand: most claims of racism and
anti-Semitism are worthless nonsense. I'm not sure what you believe, so
I'm going to ask some questions.

For example, I think that Trent Lott was clearly a racist, and that his
statement that "we would be better off if you were president" did have
something to do with segregation.

Do you think that this was just an innocent statement. How about the
statements in the '60s by southern Senators, Governors, etc.?

Do you think that being liberal or anti-Bush means you can't be racist or
anti-Semitic? Do you think that it is impossible for a genuinely nice
person to accidentally pick up a racist or anti-Semitic idea without
thinking about the consequences of or the history of the idea they picked
up? Do you think that anti-Semitism is basically dead, that only a few
misguided souls are still anti-Semitic?

I'm not trying for 20 questions, but I'm trying to see how you draw the
line. I think that we agree that not every criticism of Israel or a given
Jewish person is anti-Semitic, but that there are still anti-Semitic
statements and attitudes, just like there are still racist statements and
attitudes. Seeing how you would answer the above questions lets me better
understand what your opinion is.
