Replace Catholics with Irish Republican Nationalists and Protestants with umm, Royalists and the above sentence makes just as much sense, perhaps more even.


These are people who self-identify as Catholic and Protestant. Telling them they don't even know their own identity seems a bit presumptuous.

Now perhaps they are confused (they're religious after all, so it seems likely they aren't firing on all cylinders) but they know what they think, and it's what they think that they are fighting about.
